About the treatment

This area is the part of the arm above the elbow, from the shoulder joint down to the bend of the elbow; the forearm is treated separately. The split is a practical one: in men the hair above the elbow is usually thicker and darker than below it, and many ask for the upper part only, leaving the forearm as it is. The surface is rounded, so the specialist turns the arm and works along an arc; the inner side is finer and more sensitive than the outer one, and the settings are changed for it. The hair is thicker than women's and sits deeper, so the power is higher. At the elbow the skin lies directly over bone — there the handpiece is moved more slowly. The area is done as a course at 4–8 week intervals.

On average 6–10 sessions are needed, and with dense men's hair more visits are required more often. 01Skin preparationFor 2–4 weeks before: no tanning, sunbeds, waxing, sugaring or tweezers; the day before or on the day, shave the area with an ordinary razor.
02Phototype and settingsThe specialist determines your skin phototype and sets the device accordingly; a cooling gel is applied to the skin.
03SessionThe handpiece passes over the area in flashes; built-in cooling keeps it comfortable. For most people growth slows and some hairs shed after the first few sessions — how quickly depends on hair and skin type.
04AfterwardsTwo weeks without sun or sunbed; do not pull hairs from the root — shaving only. The next visit is scheduled at an interval the specialist chooses.

01Will the shape of my beard be kept?

Yes. We remove only what you mark — usually the neck and the line below the outline; the beard outline itself stays. We agree the borders at the examination, before the first flash.

02Does it help with ingrown hairs and irritation after shaving?

That is what people most often come for: the less hair there is, the fewer reasons for ingrown hairs and irritation. Only a course removes the problem completely, not a single session.

03How many sessions for the back and chest?

Large areas are done as a course at 4–8 week intervals, on average 6–10 sessions. The laser sees dense dark hair well, so men's areas often respond confidently.* Average course — the exact number of sessions is determined individually.

04Why do men's areas cost differently?

The price depends on the size of the area and the length of the session: where the hair is denser and there is more work, the price is higher. Small areas cost the same as in the general price list.

05What about tattoos, moles and scars?

We do not work with the laser over tattoos or moles — we go around those spots or cover them. Fresh scars and skin damage need time to heal; the specialist will look at the area at the examination.

06Does the laser work on grey and light hair?

Less well: the laser follows pigment, and there is almost none in grey and very light hair. We will say so plainly before the course starts, not after payment.

07How awkward is it?

The treatment takes place one to one with the specialist, and everything outside the working area is covered. For our staff this is ordinary work to protocol — including delicate areas.
