About the treatment

About the treatment

Mediderma LACTIPEEL is a superficial lactic-acid peel in gel form: it hydrates, evens out skin tone and brings back a natural glow. It is done on the face and neck, or on the face, neck and décolletage.

LACTIPEEL is a professional peel by the Spanish brand Mediderma. It is based on lactic acid, a substance the skin itself contains: it loosens the bonds between dead cells in the outer layer, draws water into the upper layers of the skin and helps pigment spread more evenly. The formula also contains DMAE. According to the manufacturer, the gel releases the acid gradually, so the peel avoids the irritation usually associated with lactic acid products.

The manufacturer names three concerns: dehydrated skin, pigmentation and the first signs of ageing — fine lines, loss of tone and radiance. Our centre recommends it for dry and sensitive skin that needs a gentle peel: a dull complexion, uneven colour, sun marks. If your skin is oily and prone to breakouts, the specialist may suggest another peel from the same line at your assessment — salicylic SALIPEEL DS or azelaic AZELAC PEEL.

The visit starts with an assessment: the specialist checks the condition of your skin and decides whether the peel can be done today. The skin is then thoroughly cleansed of make-up and excess sebum, the sensitive areas around the eyes and lips are protected, and the gel is applied to the chosen area. The specialist watches the timing and how your skin responds; light tingling or warmth is a normal reaction to the acid. The peel is rinsed off with water and finished with a product containing sun protection.

Straight after the treatment your skin may be slightly red, and over the following days there may be some light flaking — the usual course of a superficial peel. Do not rub or pick at flaking skin, use a moisturiser and apply high-factor sun protection every day; avoid sunbeds and deliberate tanning during this time. The specialist will tell you after the assessment how many sessions you need and how far apart.

At the examination the specialist looks at your skin type and your goal — glow, tone, density, post-acne — and chooses the protocol and the depth of treatment. The examination is part of the visit, so no separate “introductory” consultation is needed.

It depends on the protocol. Gentle facials and moisturising treatments leave no noticeable peeling — you can go out the same day. More active ones renew the skin more visibly; when that is expected, the specialist will say so in advance so you can plan your week.

Warmth or a light tingling; the discomfort is brief. The specialist watches the skin's reaction and, if needed, uses a neutraliser and soothing care.

Stop home retinoids and acids 5–7 days beforehand — if you use strong actives, tell us in advance and the protocol will be adjusted. Before a peel — no fresh tan.

For 24–48 hours — no sauna and no overheating; do not rub the skin with your hands or exfoliate it. SPF every day, even in cloudy weather; no sunbed and no active tanning for 7–14 days. Home acids — only once the specialist allows them.

Glow is often noticeable within 2–5 days. Tone and texture change over a course. Peel: usually 1–2 weeks, but we always take into account the type and intensity of the specific peel. We set intervals not only by the calendar — we check whether the skin has fully recovered after the previous treatment; the plan is drawn up at the examination for your goal.

About herpes, inflammation, pregnancy, increased sensitivity and medication — this matters before the start, so that a safe protocol can be chosen or the visit rescheduled.
