It is chosen for dark circles and puffiness under the eyes, fine lines, dryness and a tired look around the eyes. If under-eye bags are down to the structure of your face, injections will not remove them — the specialist will tell you at the assessment whether the treatment makes sense.

The treatment is carried out by a suitably qualified specialist and only after an assessment. They examine the area, ask about your health, medication and allergies, and check for contraindications — these include pregnancy and breastfeeding, inflammation of the eyes or eyelids, a rash or broken skin in the area, allergy to any component of the formula and a number of chronic conditions; if in doubt, they will ask you to consult a doctor first. If needed, a numbing cream is applied beforehand. The skin is cleaned with an antiseptic, a series of very small injections is made, and a soothing product is applied at the end.

Straight after the visit there are pinpoint injection marks, mild swelling and redness — these usually fade within a few hours, sometimes a day or two. The skin around the eyes is thin, so bruising is more common here than elsewhere on the face; it clears on its own. Until the next morning do not rub your eyes, touch the area or wear make-up; for a week avoid saunas and steam rooms, and wear sunglasses and sun protection.
